Competition, Consumer and Advertising
- Conducting several preventive audits in the commercial and marketing practices of some of the main companies involved in the distribution of consumer products in Costa Rica and the region.
- Design compliance programs on competition and consumer issues in Costa Rica and the region.
- Drafting, by Uri Weinstok, of the “Handbook of Good Commercial Practices towards Consumers”, which was adopted by Costa Rica’s Consumer Protection Agency as the official guidelines for the trade in their relations with consumers.
- Successful representation of a defendant in one of the most complex antitrust investigations so far, which involved allegations of a cartel agreement and also abuse of market power by our client.
- Advice in the defense of antitrust investigations in two other Central American countries.
- Representation of a foreign manufacturer after the imposition of an antidumping measure. After our intervention, the measure against our client was lifted.
- General advisors to Instituto Nacional de la Publicidad (INPUB), an organization comprising the main advertisers, advertising agencies and media operators in Costa Rica.
- Advice to the legal counsels of one of the parties in the main lawsuit filed so far for Comparative Advertising in Costa Rica.
- Representation – with a high success ration – of advertisers in challenges to their communication by regulators.
- Advice in all legal aspects – talent negotiation, consumer issues, relationship with suppliers, permits, etc. – of the largest music concert made so far in Central America.
- Successful clearance of international promotions in Costa Rica and other Latin American countries.
